Overview
New collar is about skills, not degrees. IBM’s Apprenticeship Program provides an “earn-and-learn” opportunity to build technology skills while getting hands-on experience and mentorship. This session will provide you with information that will allow you to understand what is looks like to be competitive for an IBM apprenticeship and how being a P-TECH graduate positions you to be a great candidate.

About the Speakers
Sharon Coleman is the New Collar Apprentice Manager – Global Market Sales with over 14 years of speciality experience in coaching, mentoring, leadership development, and program management. Originally from St. Paul, Minnesota, Sharon graduated from the University of Dallas with her MBA with a focus on HR Organization Development. She is passionate of supporting the next generation, that will lead us in a variety of ways.
Nirel Cortes is a Technical Seller Apprentice within the IBM Global Markets team. Originally from Brownsville, TX, Nirel graduated from Cornell University with her B.S. in Human Development. After being an educator for three years, Nirel entered the tech field with a love for storytelling, people, and traveling!
Shekinah Griffith is a Technical Sales Apprentice for FSS (Cybersecurity). As a P-TECH graduate, Shekinah earned her Associate’s degree in Computer Science from CUNY New York City College of Technology. At the early age of 16, she started her IBM career as an intern and now serves as an apprentice with a love for building connections, creating content, and traveling.
Danis Jhammat began his career as an IBMer at the young age of 18. After graduating from Newburgh Free Academy P-TECH SUNY Orange with his associate’s degree, Danis became a part of the 2019 IBM Apprenticeship Program. He now serves a a Mainframe System Technician.
